William A. Wheeler

Vice - President Under Rutherford B. Hayes
Served from 1877 - 1881
Date of Visit: June 28, 2006

William Wheeler, one of the more obscure Vice - Presidents, was the third and final gravesite we visited on our way to Montreal.

He lived in Malone, New York, which is way up in northern New York. We had trouble finding the cemetery, but we stopped at the local Chamber of Commerce and got directions. Somewhere along the way we missed a turn, but we were able to go around the block. It was good that we did that because we drove by his home. I had Peggy stop the car and I jumped out and snapped a few pictures.

It was then off to the cemetery. We found the grave pretty quick then it was off to Montreal.
